Side A — Who We Are
White Catfish met along the banks of the Missouri River in Council Bluffs, Iowa. History reminds us that in 1804, Lewis & Clark made a similar nearby stop and named their camp White Catfish, inspired by a fellow explorer who'd hauled in a rare albino catfish. We borrowed the name. Felt right for a group of folks who found each other on the same riverbank, a couple hundred years later, looking for a song to play.
Our sound runs through all things Americana, with roots in folk, rock and country, often blending inside the same song. The Avett Brothers, Drivin N Cryin, and The Decemberists have all left footprints in the banks “Down by the Water.”
